The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are back with some new additions and familiar faces. But last season’s woes have followed the ladies. Kyle‘s reeling from all of the changes in her life as Dorit struggles with her marriage and friendships. But not everyone is heading towards a rough patch. Garcelle is thriving as she works on not one, but two movies, and Sutton is prepping for her “cool girl summer” by throwing a Surrealism Party. Now if only everyone could just get along…
Sutton rolls up to see her bestie girl, Jennifer Tilly. Jennifer is taking on a friend-of role this season, and what a breath of fresh air she brings! According to Sutton, Jennifer is one of her best friends. Sutton discusses the surrealism movement and decides to bring the ladies back to Spain for a “surrealist” ball at her home. Gonna need a clear dress code for THIS theme…
Sutton then shares that she wasn’t a great friend to Kyle last year, but after a recent dinner they had together, things are back to being great. Sutton missed her friend!
Over at the Pacific Design Center, Erika Jayne is redecorating with some help from Dorit. Erika is looking to furnish her new place now that she has let go of Pasadena and her past. Erika is counting on Dorit’s eye for style to help guide her.
After perusing some furniture, Dorit lays some news on Erika. PK and Dorit are separating. Erika is shocked into silence, and then she becomes emotional. Quite ironic that Dorit is confiding in Erika after what Erika said about her marriage at BravoCon, isn’t it? Dorit admits to having a rough couple of years with PK and lets Erika know that PK’s drinking has a lot to do with it. Dorit is tired of that toxic energy and needed him to “dry up” to see the light. Dorit explains that it’s just been a bunch of little things that have brought them to this decision. Erika wonders if she can talk to Kyle about this topic, but Dorit would rather Erika keep this quiet since Dorit and Kyle are not in a great place right now.
Kyle states that Mauricio and Alexia have moved out and so now it’s just Portia, Sophia, and Kyle under one roof. Kyle admits that she doesn’t know how to do much around the house now that Mo is gone. Kyle did not expect her life to end up this way, but luckily, she has friends to lean on, like Erika. Fresh from furniture shopping with Dorit, Erika pushes Kyle to reflect on the unraveling of her relationship with Dorit.
Kyle was shocked that Dorit tried to publicly embarrass her on TV by reading the text she sent Dorit, but Erika points out that this started back during the reunion with Kathy. According to Dorit, the friendship is unbalanced, since Dorit feels like she is forced to swallow whatever Kyle throws her way. Dorit does not appreciate that Kyle went public on Amazon Live, claiming their friendship was “exaggerated.”
Clearly there are many reason why this friendship has shattered, and Kyle points out that Dorit’s behavior at BravoCon was also embarrassing. Erika tries to be a peacekeeper, but between Amazon Live, WWHL, and BravoCon, Kyle and Dorit have a lot to work out. Now if only Dorit will stay quiet enough to listen and Kyle refrains from “manipulating” the situation…
Garcelle gets a visit from her son, Oliver. Garcelle is currently working on two movies in Atlanta, is an executive producer, and is a STAR. She is thrilled to be thriving in her 50’s and loves that Oliver is there to support her on set (with his new girlfriend).
On May 9, the news breaks that Dorit and PK have separated after 9 years of marriages. The ladies are rocked by this “long and winded” statement by Dorit and Dorit is just driving and ripping cigs. What is happening?! Kyle reflects back to the couple that was so in love and wonders what went wrong? Garcelle wonders if there is something in the waters that keeps ruining the marriages in this group…
The first stop on Dorit’s “I’m getting separated announcement” tour is to see…. Kathy? Well this is interesting. According to Dorit, Kyle has iced her out, whereas Kathy has offered support. Dorit is, for once, quiet when Kathy asks if PK is willing to do the work necessary to help their marriage.
PK and Mauricio meet up to chat about the statements and PK shares that he is not ok. Mo offers his advice, since he has been separated for nearly a year, and explains that PK should learn to “enjoy the journey.” PK shares that Kyle texted him about the news and goes on to state he and Dorit have not mentioned anything to their 8 and 10 year old children…yet. PK has a sober coach and Dorit admits to him being an alcoholic. There is no sex in the marriage and “life got in the way.” Dorit states that she wouldn’t have chosen this route, but “we both realized, we’re not supposed to be married.”
It’s the day of Sutton’s Surrealism Party and no one is quite sure what the heck to wear to this event, except for Dorit, who can hardly wait to wear a “massive plexi glass plate” on her head. Dorit is unsure how to feel about seeing Kyle at this event. Kyle did text Dorit about the separation; however, Dorit feels like Kyle’s timing of her messages seem to be calculated, but she feels like she is ready to confront Kyle.
There’s an alpaca, a monkey, and other surreal aspects in Sutton’s backyard. Anyone else feel like this is a dream sequence? Sutton’s dressed as a deer, Jennifer’s decked as a swan, and Dorit, welp, she’s a “satellite dish.” Dorit’s outfit is a bit modern and looks like she went to the wrong “wing of the museum,” according to Sutton. And then Bozoma makes her grand entrance. She has become friendly with Sutton over the years. Boz explains that she has recently retired after 25 years of corporate work, but she is still a boss. What a resume this woman has!
Almost immediately, Dorit and Boz click. Dorit shares the separation news with Boz and tells her all about PK’s sobriety journey. We learn that Boz is widowed, but she too, was separated until her husband of 10 years was diagnosed with cancer and they reunited before he passed.
When Garcelle enters the party, Dorit gets a bit weird, considering the last time she saw Garcelle was during the reunion when Garcelle claimed the home invasion was a bit exaggerated. Who doesn’t Dorit have a problem with?!
Garcelle chats about her busy and exciting life with Kyle and Erika. In contrast to Garcelle’s happy news, Kyle shares that all of the changes in her life are rocking her. Kyle wants to address the tabloids and stories out there. Kyle purposely leaves Morgan‘s name out (which is dumb considering Morgan was ON THE SHOW last season, but I digress) and claims that right now, they are not together. The tabloids created “pressure and emotional distress” and Kyle’s figuring things out about herself. Kyle states that she has never questioned her sexuality, but all of the speculation made her think twice. Kyle goes on to say that she told her daughters, and her girls have accepted her for all she is.
Kyle’s moment gets interrupted by Dorit. The tension is thick between them and so Garcelle and Sutton evacuate the situation, leaving Kyle to fend for herself. Luckily, Kathy enters, bringing a tornado with her. She refers to Boz and “boss” and proceeds to take her extensions out in the middle of the party because she is “hot.” Typical Kathy behavior. I die when we catch her carrying Boz’s train over to hear Sutton’s speech. A performance ensues that leaves Kyle speechless and once the song ends, Kyle pulls Dorit aside for a private moment to talk.
Kyle apologizes to Dorit for what is going on with PK and knows that what she said on Amazon Live hurt Dorit. Dorit feels used and forced to reevaluate if they can ever be friends. Dorit wants things to start being honest with Kyle and demands to talk about “real stuff.” Kyle wonders who this Dorit is, as she is not acting like herself, but Dorit is done putting up with Kyle’s BS. To be continued…
