Once again, Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell is dealing with haters and trolls on the Internet. Just a couple of months ago, her husband, Tyler Baltierra, said Catelynn was getting “mean” comments on social media. He decided to stick up for her and try to make the situation right.
Now, Catelynn is being mom-shamed. It all began with the most recent episode of Teen Mom OG on MTV. Prior to the episode’s airing, Catelynn posted about it on Instagram. In her caption, she writes, “Vaeda is here, and I have a special surprise for Nova! It’s all happening on tonight’s mother of a Monday – a new episode of #TeenMomOG begins at 9/8c.”
In one part of the episode, Catelynn leaves her daughter, Novalee, at home. When Catelynn was leaving the house, Nova was throwing a temper tantrum and was pretty upset that her mom was leaving. Catelynn was going to enjoy a spa day by herself on her birthday.
Because of this, plenty of fans of the show began shaming Catelynn for leaving Nova at home. In addition, fans started saying that Nova has abandonment anxiety issues.
On Twitter, Catelynn sent out a tweet responding to the mom-shaming she had received after the Teen Mom OG episode. She tweeted, “Nova was FINE two minutes after I left! That was my first time by myself in MONTHS!!! And it was my birthday! If you are a parent you know that sometimes u need me time!”
Then, Tyler also stepped in to defend his wife and their parenting. He tweeted, “Wait…so a kid throws a fit nowadays & we’re calling it ‘abandonment anxiety issues’!? I must have not received that memo, but thank you to all of the social media child therapists for this new diagnosis. Hahaha!”
Teen Mom OG Tyler and Catelynn’s relationship
Because Tyler was quick to defend Catelynn once again, fans started wondering what was going on between the two of them. If you’re a fan of Teen Mom OG, you probably know that the married couple was having a trial separation.
In a recent interview with E! News, Catelynn said, “I think the biggest misconception people had about the trial separation was that like, ‘Oh my God, since you’re gonna live separate and do this then you’re automatically going to get a divorce, or you’re automatically gonna wanna see other people. And it wasn’t even like that. I feel like when we said the word ‘separation’ people blew it out of proportion of what it really was. It wasn’t as severe as how people were thinking it was.”
In the same interview, Catelynn also said, “Our relationship, I feel like we’re always strong. I think that we just go through bumps and it makes you stronger as a couple too, but yeah, we’re in a really good place.” As of right now, they seem to be on good terms.
