Teen Mom’s Amber PortwoodAmber Portwood appears to be experiencing a summer romance.
“I’ve been dating for over a month now,” Portwood, 35, said in a recent TikTok Live captured by fans. “It’s a good thing. He’s got a job for 20-something years, same exact job.”
While the MTV reality star isn’t sharing any photos or the name of her new boyfriend just yet, she revealed he’s from the North Carolina mountains.
“He’s got this thick accent,” she revealed, “and he’s super sweet to me.”
Fans met Portwood back in 2009 when she allowed MTV cameras to document the moment she gave birth to daughter Leah with ex Gary Shirley on 16 and Pregnant.
Since then, the reality star has shared the highs and lows of her dating life with fans, including a dramatic breakup with Gary Wayt.
In June 2024, Bryson City Police Department in North Carolina confirmed that Wayt had been found safe after Portwood reported him missing. Soon after, the couple called off their engagement.
“This man broke me,” Portwood told executive producer Kiki Malone in a September 2024 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. “I was stable. Right now, this is the first time in years in my life … I am not f***ing right because a man put a ring on my finger. You broke me because we were actually in love.”
During the most recent season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Portwood also struggled with the realization that Leah didn’t want to maintain a regular relationship with her mom.
“With my daughter, she doesn’t want to be around me,” Portwood said on the February 6 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. “I’ve never been a mom that didn’t care. Just a f***ed up mom.”
As Portwood explores the dating world once again, it’s unclear if Teen Mom cameras will be capturing any new summer romances. (MTV has yet to publicly announce plans for a new season.)
“This season has wound down and everyone is just waiting to see what the future holds for the franchise in general,” a source exclusively shared with Us in March. “She hasn’t been as active in the show as she has been before.”
“Amber has been resistant to return to the show too for a long time,” the insider added. “It’s been so contentious with Gary and their daughter and it’s harder to tolerate the show. It’s become increasingly strained with allegations back and forth.”
