Chief among them, she shares in an exclusive clip from Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’s Feb. 27 episode, to have her grandmother Christy Smith attend her 7th birthday.

Inside 'Teen Mom 2' Star Jade Cline's Relationship With Mom Christy: Details Following Rehab News

After rattling off her guest list, and deciding on a kitten theme, Kloie asks if her grandma can join in on the fun, leaving Jade and husband Sean Austin to discuss the state of their relationship.

“Yeah,” the 27-year-old responds. “I’m gonna send out a big family invite.”

Knowing that his wife is apprehensive about her mother’s attendance, the pair ask Kloie to step away before Sean asks Jade her real thoughts about extending an invite to her mother.

“I mean, I haven’t seen her for four months,” Jade tells her husband. “But I mean, she asked for her to come. So, I feel like an ass to say no. I don’t want Kloie’s day to be ruined or any weird s--t happening.”

Sean, 30, adds, “Your mom has a tendency to make situations about her.”

Still, Jade is optimistic about the outcome, despite her past with her mother.

E! News has reached out to Christy for comment but has not heard back.

“I hope she’s not high,” Jade says of her mom. “I mean I don’t know because I haven’t talked to her. I mean obviously I know you’re doing drugs. You don’t speak to us anymore. The day I asked you to take a drug test, you ghosted me ever since.”

“It’s pretty obvious with your actions what you’re doing,” Jade says as she becomes emotional. “It just makes me upset because I don’t want to see her swollen with like sores all over her face.”

Sean has no problem with his wife’s decision, reassuring her that he has her back no matter the outcome.

“Well, if she shows up and you would like her to leave,” he says. “All you have to do is tell me, and I’ll ask her to leave.”

Jade’s latest saga with her mom comes after fans watched Christy and her husband Sean Smith battle with their sobriety ahead of Jade and Sean’s wedding last season. In the end, the duo got clean and attended the couple’s emotional wedding ceremony in 2023.

In 2022, Sean voluntarily checked himself into rehab. A decision Jade said made their relationship stronger.

"I think this whole new year of our life is just a different perspective on our relationship and how we are as a couple and it's fun," Jade told E! News in March. "We're not perfect, but we love each other and we have a good time and we support each other and we're there for each other. And that's all you can ever ask for."
