Bachelor Contestant Beverly Ortega Shares Reason For Departure

Beverly Ortega was really forming a great connection with Bachelor Grant Ellis. However, after a group date, she fell ill and was not able to return. Following her exit from the show, Beverly appeared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt. She disclosed exactly what happened to her that forced that sudden exit.

Beverly said, “I take a nap, I wake up and my stomach’s hurting. I’m like, ‘OK, maybe I just need to go to the bathroom,’ or the food didn’t sit well. I start throwing up. My stomach is continuing to hurt and I’m in excruciating pain. This goes on for 12 hours.”

She went on to say she thought maybe it was the flu or food poisoning. It didn’t get any better so they took her to the hospital. Beverly went on to say, “After three hours of being in the ER, the doctor came in and he’s like, ‘You have appendicitis. You’re going to need emergency surgery.'”

Of course, she was far from home with no friends or family there. The surgery took place in California and she lives on the East Coast. Luckily, things went great and she got to go home in a few days.

It Was Hard For Her To Recover Emotionally

While Beverly Ortega recovered fine physically from her emergency appendectomy, she didn’t recover quite as quickly from her disappointment. Beverly said she was so bummed she had to leave the show especially since she was going to get a one-on-one with Grant Ellis.

She shared that it took her a month and a half to recover emotionally from it all. The what-ifs were eating at her because she knew that she had a great connection with Grant.

Beverly was very bummed out but believes that everything happens for a reason. She even said she would be up for heading to Bachelor in Paradise.

What do you think about Beverly having an appendicitis? Were you sad she had to leave?
