The Bachelor: The First Impression Rose Twist In Grant Ellis’ Season Proves The Producers Don't Care About The Lead (They Just Want Drama) - SPOILERS

The Bachelor season 29 has introduced a new first impression rose twist in which its recipient will also go on Grant Ellis' first one-on-one date, but all it does is prove that the producers don't care about him and would rather stir up drama. The Bachelor producers are notorious for creating twists that start the season off with drama. During Zach Shallcross' season, they introduced America's First Impression Rose, which kept Brianna Thorbourne safe at the first rose ceremony because America voted for her to win over four other contestants.

In addition, during Joey Graziadei's Bachelor season, Lea Cayanan was given a date card which allowed her to steal a date from one of her fellow contestants before his hometown dates. Lea didn't want to hurt any of the women, and she certainly didn't want to force Joey to go on a date with her if he hadn't chosen her, so she burned the card in the Bachelor Mansion fireplace. Both of these twists were set up by the producers to pit the women against each other, and they did nothing to help the leads fall in love. Now the producers are repeating this pattern with Grant's first impression rose twist on The Bachelor season 29.

The Bachelor Season 29 First Impression Rose Twist Puts Too Much Pressure On Grant Ellis & Its Recipient

In the past, the Bachelor first impression rose was given by the lead to the woman who impressed him the most on premiere night. Not only did it grant her safety at the first rose ceremony later that night, but it meant that the lead could see a future with that person. However, in Grant's season, the first impression rose also means that the recipient will be going on the first one-on-one date.

This twist puts way too much pressure on Grant and its recipient because he hardly had any time to think about his decision before handing it out. After just a few hours, Grant had to decide which woman he'd spend the first significant amount of one-on-one time with. The expectations will be high for this first date, which might make their time together feel forced. This could hurt their relationship because there's so much pressure on them so quickly. This proves that the producers don't care if Grant finds love; they just want to create a dramatic storyline.

The First Impression Rose Twist Could Put A Target On Its Recipient's Back

The Twist Could Stir Up Drama Among The Women

The Bachelor producers love to stir up drama among the women, and this twist seems to have been created to continue that bad habit. The twist could put a target on the first impression rose recipient's back because the other women might get jealous of her because she's getting so much attention from Grant so soon. It seems as though this is exactly what the producers want because they continuously focus on conflict among the contestants.

Unfortunately, Grant's Bachelor season is beginning with a twist that might do more harm than good. Forcing him to choose his first one-on-one date participant before he might've been ready proves that they really don't care about him and what will most help him to find his future wife. Instead, as usual, they're more interested in stirring up drama. They should leave Grant alone to make his own decisions more naturally. Hopefully, Grant will be able to get through this first impression rose twist, and, although it's unlikely, it would be wonderful if it led to him finding his happily-ever-after during The Bachelor season 29.

The Bachelor season 29 premieres on Monday, January 27 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
