A second The Golden Bachelorette contestant has been revealed to have had a retraining order filed against them, and it seems like Joan Vassos and the show's producers missed Guy Gansert's red flags. Joan is a 61-year-old private school administrator from Maryland who made her television debut during The Golden Bachelor. She was one of 22 single Golden women who traveled to the Bachelor mansion from all over the country to date 72-year-old Gerry Turner. Joan had to leave the season early due to a family emergency, but she left quite an impression.
When Joan left Gerry's season, she thought her Bachelor journey was over, but she was later cast as The Golden Bachelorette. During the highly anticipated premiere of the female-led Bachelor spin-off, Joan met 24 single Golden men, including Guy Gansert. The 66-year-old ER doctor from Reno, Nevada, even took Joan home to meet his family. With overnight dates on the horizon, Guy is one of Joan's final three men, but the revelation of his restraining order makes him seem like a less than desirable choice.
Guy's Ex-Wife Filed A Restraining Order
She Dismissed It Before It Was Granted
Joan liked Guy from the moment they met during The Golden Bachelor season 1, but, according to People, Guy's ex-wife, Heidi O’Gara, filed for a temporary protective order in October 2021. She had the order dismissed a month later, before it was officially granted. Though the restraining order was never officially granted, some of her accusations are quite disturbing. She accuses her ex-husband of being angry, making threats, and alleges that he "motioned like he was going to shoot me with his hand shaped like a pistol." Heidi dropped the order a month later.
The Golden Bachelorette's Other Restraining Order
Gil Ramirez Was Accused Of Stalking
Guy's situation wasn't the only time a restraining order made news on The Golden Bachelorette, the other involving 60-year-old Gil Ramirez, an educator from Mission Viejo, California. According to People, Gil's ex-girlfriend filed a restraining order against him about four months ago, accusing him of stalking. The woman claimed he made unwanted contact with her and her family, and said that he would show up to places he knew she'd be to confront her. The reason producers didn't know about it is that he passed their background check before the restraining order was filed. Gil was eliminated weeks ago.
Does Guy Win Joan's Final Rose?
Maybe She Can Overlook His Issues
With The Golden Bachelorette season 1 nearing its conclusion, Joan has narrowed her options down to three men, including Guy. Joan's other two potential winners are 60-year-old Chock Chapple, an insurance executive from Wichita, Kansas, and Pascal Igbui, a 69-year-old salon owner from Chicago, Illinois. It remains to be seen what role, if any, Guy's temporary protective order plays in Joan's choice.
