Two-weight world champion Tim Bradley has predicted the upcoming mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
It was announced earlier this month that the modern greats will do battle on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Canelo and Crawford faced-off for the first time in Riyadh on May 3, just moments after the Mexican superstar defeated former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull to capture the undisputed championship at 168lbs for the second time. They have since met on a press tour, with the friendly atmosphere slowly being replaced by trash talk and competitive spirit.
It will be a test of the highest magnitude for ‘Bud’ Crawford, who will make the jump up in two weight classes from his last outing.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Bradley didn’t hesitate to back Crawford to get the job done against Canelo, revealing he knows a ‘secret’ that plays into the hands of the 37-year-old from Omaha. Unfortunately for fans, he was not forthcoming with the details.
“If Canelo couldn’t knock out [Jermell] Charlo, are you really thinking he’s gonna knock out Crawford? I would pick Terence Crawford to beat a Canelo Alvarez even at 168, everybody can call me crazy and whatever you wanna say, I get it, y’all didn’t believe me when I told you about [Errol] Spence but trust me, Crawford will figure out a way.
“I know a secret y’all don’t know and I ain’t gonna tell you why I would pick Terence Crawford but it’s part of the secret is the reason why I’m picking him to win the fight.”
Victory for Crawford would see the unbeaten American write his name into boxing history once again, as he will become the first fighter in the history of male boxing to win an undisputed championship in three divisions.
