Tom Schwartz Reflects on Key Decision He Made About Schwartz & Sandy’s

Tom Schwartz wishes he could change one thing about Schwartz & Sandy’s, the short-lived Franklin Village bar he once owned with Tom Sandoval.

Speaking with E! News in February 2025, the  “Vanderpump Rules” star said he had “no regrets” about opening the the bar because he “learned so much” from the experience. “I’m for sure a better person because of that place — 100%, I’m a better person. More confident. I got more grit,” he said.

Schwartz then admitted there is one thing he would go back and change about the bar he opened with his best friend in November 2022. “Maybe I regret putting my name on the sign,” he said. “I would never do that again. Ever, ever, ever,” he added. “Listen, if you’re Gordon Ramsey [or] Lisa Vanderpump, I get it.”

Tom Sandoval Heavily Advocated For the Schwartz & Sandy’s Name

The bar name was a major point of contention when Schwartz and Sandoval first talked about opening a business together,

During the ninth season of “Vanderpump Rules,” Schwartz’s then-wife, Katie Maloney criticized the suggested name of Schwartz and Sandy’s. “I think it’s horrible,” Maloney said of the name, per BravoTV.com. “You want to make it like psychedelic, funky, fresh, lights, textures. And then you want to call it [expletive] Schwartz & Sandy’s?”

But Sandoval pushed for the name that he came up with. In an interview, he told Us Weekly that after partnering in the TomTom bar with Lisa Vanderpump, they wanted to have their last names on their spinoff establishment. “So, it’s like, you’re not just getting to know our first names, you’re getting to know our last names. What truly make us us,” he said.

At the time, Schwartz backed the idea despite backlash from some fans. “The public does not like it, but we’re going to make them like it!” Schwartz told Entertainment Tonight in October 2021. “We’re committed,” he added.

Schwartz & Sandy’s Had a Short Run

On November 25—the same day that the “Vanderpump Rules” reboot was announced—Schwartz posted to Instagram to reveal that Schwartz & Sandy’s was closing its doors by the end of 2024.

“Sad as hell to post this,” he wrote. “I’ll do a more sentimental post down the road. Just wanna keep it upbeat and throw some parties to close out the year. Let me and @tomsandoval1 host your events as we begin our farewell tour 🙏❤️  … I have a cold Coors light & a Publix sub as I type this in Florida. We are gonna finish FUN.”

He also urged fans to book their events for the bar’s last hurrah.

Fans and friends reacted with supportive comments, including Schwartz’s ex-wife.
