“Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” star Tyler Baltierra is giving an update about trying to get in communication with his biological daughter, Carly.
In a February 8 Instagram Story, Baltierra said he and his wife, Catelynn Lowell, have decided to pause their attempts to speak to Carly. As fans are aware, Lowell revealed that Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, have blocked her.
In the post, Baltierra said he and Lowell decided to take the advice of Dawn Baker, the Adoption Specialist on the “Teen Mom” franchise, who facilitated Carly’s adoption.
“Adoption Update: We have taken Dawn’s advice & have since stopped sending gifts & updates,” wrote Baltierra.
Baltierra said instead of sending weekly updates via text, he and Lowell made an email address for Carly and sent her messages she does not yet have access to.
“We write to it often, so that way when she’s older & if/when she reaches out, we can give her the password for her to read at her discretion,” said Baltierra. “We only want her to have what we believe she deserves & that’s the truth.”
Baltierra shared that he and Lowell will understand if Carly does not want to interact with them in the future.
“We only want what Carly wants, even if that means she wants nothing to do with us, which we stated from the beginning,” wrote Baltierra.
Baltierra also said that he and Lowell received their “whole adoption file & the details in it are even more shocking that [they] anticipated.”
He then said he and Lowell will continue to share their perspective as birth parents. He also wrote they will advocate for adoptees.
“Adoption begins with trauma & loss for the baby, which is the only one who truly matters,” stated Baltierra.
In addition, he thanked those who have been supportive of him and Lowell.
Tyler Baltierra & Catelynn Lowell Had an Emotional Conversation With Dawn Baker
In “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” season 2, episode 17, Lowell and Baltierra had an emotional conversation with Baker about Carly’s adoptive parents ceasing communication.
Lowell said she was upset that Carly’s adoptive parents blocked her. She also said she would not “stop reaching out” and sending gifts to Carly. Baker advised Lowell and Baltierra to “take a step back” to lessen the negative impact on Carly.
“You have to figure out how you can be the healthiest person in the midst of a broken relationship,” said Baker to Lowell.
Catelynn Lowell Spoke About Carly’s Adoptive Parents in a January 2025 Interview
During a January 2025 interview with Access Hollywood, Lowell expressed her frustration about Brandon and Teresa Davis’ lack of communication. She said that she and Baltierra have asked the couple if Carly does not want to be in contact. She said if that is the case, she and her husband will respect the 15-year-old’s wishes.
“They will not give us a response to that,” said Lowell to the publication.
Lowell also said that she will continue to speak about Carly because she wants her to know that she is fighting to be in communication with her.
