Unique Bucs Stat Shows Incredible Baker Mayfield Career Revival

Baker Mayfield's time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hasn't gotten the national media attention that most feel it should, but it could be coming down the pipeline.

In his two NFL seasons, Mayfield has been a Pro Bowler in Year 1, while leading the franchise to the division title, and he won a playoff game. Last season, Baker had his best-ever season (4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, 71.4 completion percentage) as the Bucs again won the division.

Unique Bucs Stat Shows Incredible Baker Mayfield Career Revival

With Mayfield's career resurgence now clear, it appears that most are now catching up on the work he's been doing in the NFC South.

ESPN's projection for the Buccaneers' win total has gone up from 7.5 last year to 9.5. However, the publication has also included a stat that perfectly sums up the work Baker has done in Tampa Bay.

"The Buccaneers have put together back-to-back winning seasons for the second time in the last 16 seasons (also accomplished in 2020-21 with Tom Brady)," ESPN wrote.

So in the last 16 years, only Tom Brady and Baker have had back-to-back winning seasons and last year, when we factor in how decimated both sides of the ball were at times due to injury, yet Baker still led the team to a 10-7 record, that is a decent effort.

Now entering his third season as a Buc along with having his third different offensive coordinator, Mayfield will again be looking to give the doubters a slice of humble pie for the third straight season.

And having this Brady stat in his back pocket will help too.
