Why Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright Didn't Return For Vanderpump Rules Season 9

Once major stars of Vanderpump Rules, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright did not return to season 9 after the couple was fired from the show. The bad boy of SUR loved the limelight even if, at times, he pretended he didn't. Shortly after leaving the show, Jax felt like it was a great decision for him and his wife to say goodbye, while also still weighing in on Scandoval.

Brittany and Jax announced they were exiting the show in December 2020, shortly after Bravo axed four other cast members. Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni were all let go after they each made some past racially insensitive co. However, Jax may have been worthy of cancelation as well. For years, Jax had his own cheating scandal, gaslit women, spoke poorly about mental health and was almost married by a pastor who spoke out against the LGBTQIA+ community.

Jax & Brittany Didn't Return To Vanderpump Rules

Jax & Brittany Were Fired

There are numerous reasons why Brittany and Jax didn't return to Vanderpump Rules season 9. At the time, Jax wore out his welcome with the network. The 42-year-old may have pretended to be blindsided when he and Brittany fired, but the former model was always a hot mess. Between his serial cheating and breaking up friendships, no one believed he could pull it together to live any resemblance to everyday life. Mostly, it was always Jax's world, and his co-stars were just living in it.

Jax's Exit From Vanderpump Rules Wasn't A Surprise

Jax Was A Mence On Vanderpump Rules

More often than not, Jax's loud mouth and entitled attitude found him in trouble. It didn't help that Lisa Vanderpump repeatedly tried to chastise him when he acted selfishly, eventually getting tired of playing the mother role to an overgrown man-child. One of the significant reasons Jax may have been let go from Vanderpump Rules was for his part in Stassi and Kristen's accusations against Faith Stowers. Notably, Jax tweeted about Faith in 2017 when a fan asked if she should become a permanent cast member.

Jax had a litany of issues that needed to be addressed from day one, but he was also green-lighted to continue on Vanderpump Rules, which returned to haunt Bravo. Marrying Brittany helped Jax embrace a more normal life, but it was always hard for him to change his ways. However, reality TV was Jax's sweet spot, in terms of his career; he thrived in the environment and was itching to get back the moment he was fired from Vanderpump Rules.

How Jax & Brittany Affected Vanderpump Rules Post-Season 8

Ratings Didn't Do Great Initially After They Were Fired

While Vanderpump Rules season 8 didn't do well in terms of rating or even fan reception, Vanderpump Rules season 9 did even worse. It's widely known among fans that Vanderpump Rules season 9 was one of the worst in the series. The Bravo show had its ups and downs before, but Vanderpump Rules season 9 was such a flop that there were rumors the show would be canceled after the season aired. With Vanderpump Rules season 9 doing so badly, it made it seem like firing Jax, Brittany, and even Kristen Doute was a mistake.

However, the show came back better than ever next season. Vanderpump Rules season 10 made up for the terrible season 9. After Tom Sandoval's affair with Raquel Leviss bubbled to the surface, meaning he cheated on long-term girlfriend Ariana Madix, the season ended up being the one to remember. Everyone was talking about Vanderpump Rules, even those who've never seen the show. Vanderpump Rules season 10 became the top-rated show on Bravo and didn't even include any of the big-name cast members of the past. Jax and Brittany weren't involved whatsoever in the season.

Jax did make a cameo during Vanderpump Rules season 11 as a backdoor pilot to The Valley season 1. Vanderpump Rules season 11 had a good showing as well, but it likely had nothing to do with Jax. Vanderpump Rules was and will do fine on its own without Jax or Brittany in any future seasons.

Jax & Brittany Now Star In The Valley

Jax & Brittany Are Showing Their Family Life On The Valley

Despite Bravo firing them almost four years ago, Jax and Brittany were welcomed back with open arms on the new reality series, The Valley. With Jax and Brittany as the glue of the show, Kristen from Vanderpump Rules is also a main cast member alongside her boyfriend, Luke Broderick. Besides the Vanderpump Rules alums, The Valley season 1 cast also includes Danny Booko and Nia Booko, Jesse Lally and Michelle Lally, and Jason Caperna and Janet Caperna. Jasmine Goode and Zack Wickham have also joined the series as friends of the cast. Like Jax and Brittany, these couples are navigating family life in The Valley.

During The Valley season 1, Jax and Brittany are having some marital issues while also trying to open up a new bar called, Jax's Studio City. The couple hasn't been intimate in a month and a half, as they've been busy being parents to their now three-year-old son Cruz and other work opportunities. On the show, Brittany is doing her best to find their spark again, but Jax clearly has no interest. This makes sense as the two announced earlier this year that they were separated.

This separation may be long-term as well as there were rumors Jax slept with his publicist, Lori, according to the Taste of Reality Instagram page. Brittany and Jax unfollowed each other and Brittany unfollowed their publicist. Nonetheless, the two were cordial after they both attended the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 27. In an interview with E! News, Jax had hoped they would get back together, while Brittany still viewed their relationship as "very much separated." A few months later, it was confirmed Brittany filed for divorce.
