Why Jax Taylor Is Right About Keeping Vanderpump Rules Stars off The Valley

It isn’t often I say that Jax Taylor could be right. Let’s face it: the man doesn’t have the best track record. During his time on Vanderpump Rules, he was often caught in lie after lie. He was well known for cheating on his girlfriends. For Jax, all that seemed to matter was that he wasn’t caught in his web of lies. So when it was announced that he would be coming back to Bravo thanks to The Valley, I was skeptical. But somehow, the network’s best villain made it work without his former costars. And honestly, I don’t want any of them intruding on his space.

Jax Taylor claims 'Vanderpump Rules' is 'scripted'

Jax Taylor has his own version of events

Recently, the Hollywood bachelor took to his Instagram to clarify how The Valley came about. Not one to worry about too much hubris, Jax basically took the credit for coming up with the idea. He told followers, “So this is how it all went down. About two years after my departure from Vanderpump I decided it was time to come back to TV, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. During the two-year break (during COVID) I always came back to my main idea that we talked about years prior with Stassi, Brittany, and Kristen, ‘What if we do a show in the “valley” dealing with our lives after Vanderpump.’”

Building on his idea, Jax added, “Meaning starting families, getting married, living in the suburbs and so on. Dealing with more issues that I think the audience could relate to. So, one very cold evening, I told the girls and I decided to meet @thealexbaskin at a hotel we both love and I wanted to pitch him this idea. After a three-hour conversation, he more or less gave us the green light to write up a “Deck” or “Hard Pitch” this was that night on November 11th 2021 Ryan and I were putting a show/cast together.” And I can’t argue with Jax the show was a hit.

Jax Taylor doesn’t want the former VPR cast to jump ship

At the end of his post, Jax signed off by noting, “We also learned a lot about what it takes and how hard it is to start a successful show.” Fans took to the comments, noting that the series would always be Jax’s. The former model responded with a dig at Lisa Vanderpump, saying, “It’s a spin off so she will always get a credit — that’s how TV works. She has no part of the show.” Then fans begged Jax to keep the cast as is. It seems no one is interested in continuing to watch Scheana Shay or Lala Kent’s stories.

Jax replied, “I think that Lala and Scheana are amazing at what they do. To be honest, we are keeping the same formula as Vanderpump. Trying to make the show as authentic as possible, and if that means having episodes with cast members from the past and present, so be it. That’s the beauty of keeping vanderpump/valley alive for the fans that enjoy the show.” More than once, Jax has made it clear on his podcast that he feels if Scheana or Lala joined The Valley, it would be “disrespectful” to the current cast.

Jax Taylor has a valid point

Jax has also shared that he didn’t feel like any of his current co-stars would want the VPR OGs on the show. And I have to say, I agree with Jax. Don’t worry, guys, I’ve checked outside, and hell has not frozen over. But I think the bartender has a point. I was very skeptical about The Valley, but something about it just worked. Fans had the connection to SUR via Jax and Kristen Doute. And let’s be honest; these two were the most delusional of the OGs by a mile. But the cherry on top was the new faces. I loved Jesse Lally and couldn’t get over Janet Caperna’s mean-girl vibes. The group of hodge-podge adult-like friends just worked.

There were no attention tantrums or popping off at someone while recording their podcast. I have to say, The Valley gives a mature feeling. If Bravo really decided to add Lala and Scheana, I’d be one put-off viewer. Both still act as if they are in their 20s, filming in the back alley of SUR. I’m not invested in either one of their lives. But I was interested in the cast of The Valley. I want to see what happens next for them. I was relieved when I heard the news that Vanderpump Rules would be recast. Ultimately, I was thrilled that I wouldn’t need to watch their piddly-ass problems again. So, in my opinion, Jax is talking sense, and we all should be listening.
