Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Dallas Stars and is considered day to day with a lower-body injury.
Brodin had been sidelined for nearly a month with the lower-body injury before returning in Saturday's win over the Buffalo Sabres. Brodin posted 20 minutes, 21 seconds of ice time in that game and assisted on a late empty-net goal. While it appeared as though he'd play again on Monday, the Wild ruled him out beforehand.
Wild coach John Hynes indicated to reporters that Brodin's absence wasn't due to a setback, but rather precautionary after Brodin missed an extended period of time.
"We're trying to be really cognizant of a player being off for a long time with the type of injury he had," Hynes told reporters on Monday. "Making sure we're putting him in a situation where he can come back and play at a high level."
Hynes also added they don't want to throw him back in if he could re-aggravate it.
While it makes sense the Wild would like to be cautious with Brodin, it is at least mildly concerning he's once again considered day to day with the lower-body injury. His situation will be something to monitor as the season is winding down to its final days.
