Ever since the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight was first announced by Netflix in March, nothing has really gone to plan for the event. First, the rules of the fight were unclear, forcing the triggering of a legal process in order to get the fight sanctioned as an official professional bout. Then came Tyson's health scare, which forced the postponement of the fight from its original July 20 date.
Many were already very sour on the fight, and they were glad to see the fight get postponed. They hoped that would be the end of it, with many concerned for Tyson's overall health leading into and during the fight. But those fears continued when a rescheduled date was announced, giving the event the go-ahead for November 20. With the fight under two months away, it seems there won't be any more delays. But not everyone is convinced of that.
Fans either don't care to watch or don't want fight to happen
On Netflix's most recent social media post about the fight, several people used it to give their true thoughts about it: with the main theme being they don't believe it will materialize.
- "Not happening button >>>"
- "This is still happening??"
- "How many times they say it's gonna happen and it don't happen lol"
Even if the fight does go ahead, there are others who are adamant that it would be staged.
- "This is going to be the most staged fight ever"
- "Can't wait for this fight to be scripted"
- "I'm thinking Paul gives Tyson some biiigggg amount of money to win"
So most fans either believe the fight will be canceled, or it will be scripted. There were plenty of others who voiced their opinions on the fight, claiming that they simply don't care about it.
The event may have had some hype at the beginning of its life cycle, but the delay and the age disapirty between both fighters has killed it in many eyes.
