‘Bachelor’ Grant Ellis Works as a Day Trader & Played College Basketball

   

New “Bachelor” Grant Ellis works as a day trader, according to his ABC bio.

“The former pro basketball player is passionate about his career as a day trader, but when he’s not immersed in the fast-paced world of finance, you can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting strikes at the bowling alley, or belting out tunes at karaoke nights,” the bio says.

With Season 29 underway, some fans are wondering about Ellis’s job. His net worth is not clear.

According to his player biography, Ellis played for Albertus Magnus college’s men’s basketball team. “Transferred to Albertus Magnus at the beginning of the 2016 spring semester…majoring in criminal justice,” his bio said.

“Attended Hudson Catholic and helped lead the Hawks to a 25-3 overall record and a perfect 13-0 mark in league play in 2011-12.”

For 2016-17, the bio says, “Named Second Team All-GNAC … appeared and started in 18 games for the Falcons … second on the team in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game.”

That college’s coach Mitch Oliver told CT Insider, “He was a great player, probably the best shooter I’ve ever had or seen. His biggest asset was probably what he’s showing now to everyone, his calm, cool, collected demeanor. He couldn’t be rattled.”

After college, Ellis played for a team in the Dominican Republic, according to Pro Ballers’ bio, which reads, “born on December 15, 1993 in Newark, NJ (USA). His height is six foot five (1m95 / 6-5). He is a shooting guard / small forward who most recently played for Indios de San Francisco in Dominican Republic.”

 

According to an introductory video, Ellis switched to day trading after an injury ended his basketball career.

“But when life knocks you down, you have to be able to pivot,” he said in the introduction video during the season 21 premiere. “So, I ended up getting into the finance field, and then, it’s been off to the races from there.”

My San Antonio reported that Ellis is a day trader who is based in Houston, Texas.

According to US Weekly, Ellis had challenges growing up. “My father has been an addict for, like, 30 years. Addiction is a hard thing because, you know, growing up, my pops was everything, like, he was my superhero,” he said on the show, according to US Weekly. “He used to take me to the park and he always used to be inebriated or, like, intoxicated under the substance. The worst thing is, I didn’t know.”
