Barry Williams could be the last “Brady Bunch” star to compete on “Dancing With the Stars.”
In 2023, the sitcom star and singer competed in the 32nd season of the ABC celebrity ballroom competition and became a fan favorite. But during a recent fan appearance, his TV brother Christopher Knight said he won’t be following Williams to the ABC ballroom and would rather stay a viewer.
Knight played middle brother Peter Brady on “The Brady Bunch” from 1969 to 1974 and was forced to show his dance moves in several episodes that featured the family’s singing career, headed by big brother Greg (Williams).
During a February 2025 appearance at the Philly Home and Garden Show in Oaks, PA, Knight, 67, revealed that he didn’t always enjoy the epsidoes in which he had to sing on the ABC sitcom. When a fan asked if he would consider joining “Dancing With the Stars,” he replied, “I’m not too fond of dancing either.”
“Arrhythmic and tone deaf is I think how I have been labeled,” he cracked. “No ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ And you know, that’s brutal. I mean, that breaks your feet. And I’ve had broken stuff already and I haven’t done anything yet to be in this shape, so yeah, no, I’m just gonna watch ‘Dancing with the Stars.’”
Barry Williams Previously Cast Doubt on Christopher Knight Doing DWTS
In 2023, Williams was the third cast member from “The Brady Bunch” to compete on “Dancing With the Stars.” His TV mother, Florence Henderson, competed in season 11, and his TV sister, Maureen McCormick (aka Marcia Brady), danced in season 23.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly during his DWTS run, Williams said it was “doubtful” that fans would see any more Bradys in the ballroom. “I think you’ve seen the dancers — Maureen and Florence and myself,” he shared, noting that the celebrity ballroom was not co-stars’ Eve Plumb or Susan Olsen’s “thing.”
Williams was even more certain about Knight. “You will not see Christopher Knight on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ period,” Williams stated. “I had to almost twist his arm to get him on ‘The Masked Singer’ with me.”
Williams, Knight, and fellow Brady brother Mike Lookinland all appeared on the Fox singing competition in 2022 dressed as The Mummies.
Barry Williams Said Florence Henderson Encouraged him to Pursue DWTS
Williams previously said he tried for years to get cast on “Dancing with the Stars.” In an interview with MeTV, he revealed that he had tried to get casting directors’ attention “since the second season,” which aired in 2006.
He also noted that he received encouragement from Henderson, who died in 2016. “I try and channel Florence Henderson, who encouraged me to pursue an invitation for ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” he told People magazine in 2023. “Being familiar with my theatrical background, she felt that I could do very well. And at that time, she had just been eliminated and asked if I would carry the torch.”
