The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the Atlanta Falcons in overtime 36-30 on Thursday Night Football. The Pewter Pirates have been battling injuries all season, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
But Thursday night it was their quarterback Baker Mayfield being sacked and rolled up on that drew a collective gasp from Bucs Nation. You can see the play here.
The question most Bucs fans had after the game was the status of Mayfield. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided an update.
“#Bucs QB Baker Mayfield, who got a little banged up when his ankle got trapped but didn’t miss a play last night, is “good,” source said. No real issues.”
Mayfield and the offense has been a huge reason this team has three wins on the season. Losing him would have been catastrophic for the team heading into arguably the toughest part of their schedule.
Mayfield and the Buccaneers have 10 days to rest and heel before taking on division rival the New Orleans Saints.
