Chris Pine Looks Pitch-Perfect As Green Lantern In DCU Art After Recent Casting Speculation

Chris Pine looks perfect as the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern in new detailed fan art for Lanterns, an upcoming DC Universe series focused on multiple Green Lanterns. Pine is no stranger to DC, as the actor appeared in the old DCEU Wonder Woman movies as Steve Trevor, the love interest of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Now, Pine is one of the names speculated to be considered for a lead role in the cast of Lanterns.

On Instagram, artist @clements.ink shared a peek at what Chris Pine could look like as Green Lantern in HBO's Lanterns series.

Josh Brolin reportedly passed on the Hal Jordan role. The hero is described as a "Lantern legend" in the DCU, which explains why DC is seemingly looking at older names for the character. While there have been no official updates after Brolin chose not to play the role, speculation online points to Pine, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor, and The Mandalorian star Timothy Olyphant being considered for the role in the upcoming DCU project.

Why Chris Pine Would Be Perfect For The Green Lantern Hal Jordan

The Actor Has The Experience Needed For The "Lantern Legend"

Out of all the names speculated to be up for the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern, Pine is the youngest, at 44. That already seems like a good point in favor of his casting, as the actor could give off the experienced persona the DCU seems to want for its Hal Jordan, while being young enough that he could play a long-term role in the franchise. Pine also looks more like Hal than Brolin, who was offered the role but decided not to take it.

Pine also has many roles that show the wide range of his acting skills, making him a great candidate for the hero. Lanterns will only be the start of Hal Jordan's DCU journey, and Pine has plenty of experience in similar franchises that would ensure he makes the hero a fan-favorite for years to come. In the Star Trek movies, Pine excelled as a leader, playing Captain Kirk, Star Trek's most famous character. Pine was convincing as a space explorer with a heart for adventure, and his Hal Jordan could have had years of similar escapades.

His previous DC character had the same experience as a pilot and bold personality that Hal Jordan is known for.

Pine has appeared in multiple action or adventure movies that show he can lead a major project like Lanterns, with some of them being Jack Ryan: Shadow RecruitDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among ThievesSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and more. Pine's DCEU experience as Steve Trevor is another major point in his favor. Not only did the actor make Steve a fan-favorite, but his previous DC character had the same experience as a pilot and bold personality that Hal Jordan is known for. Based on all that, Chris Pine would make a fantastic lead for DC's Lanterns series.
