DWTS Host Teases ‘Big’ Names For Season 34 Cast

Alfonso Ribeiro thinks some “big” celebs should join the cast for “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34. Ahead of the show’s 20th anniversary on ABC, the veteran TV host spoke with “Good Morning America” and dished on his celebrity wish list for the upcoming season of the celebrity ballroom show

Noting that it’s the 20th anniversary of the show, Ribeiro said on May 13, “It’s the 34th season, 20 years the show has been on the air.”

When asked who he thinks should be cast on the show, Ribeiro replied, “Well I mean, listen I think if you’re going to do the 20th year, 34th season, I think you start big.”

Alfonso Ribeiro Would Love to See His Former Co-Star Get ‘Jiggy’ on DWTS

First on Ribeiro’s list was his former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star Will Smith. The two have maintained a friendship since wrapping the NBC sitcom nearly 30 years ago.

‘So, Will Smith, Will Smith, I’m asking you to come jiggy with it,” Ribeiro said as he looked straight into the camera. “So that would be that pretty cool, but I don’t think he’s going to say yes. I don’t think [so].”

Ribeiro then eyed another ‘90s TV star. “Jennifer Love Hewitt would be fun,” he said. “She’s a big fan of the show and she’s got she’s on [the ABC drama series] ‘911,’ so it’s like, and she comes, and she watches. So that would be someone that I think would be really fun to have on this season.”

“She’s a big name, she’s got a lot of personality, it’d be fun,” he added of the “Party of Five” alum.

Ribeiro also teased that he’d love to see former NFL player turned GMA co-host Michael Strahan take a turn in the ballroom.

Strahan replied, “What I love about Dancing With the Stars’ is when they come here and I just get to interview and I don’t have to dance,” the 53-year-old former athlete said.

“This is what scared me. Every professional football player and athlete who’s been on the show said it was the hardest thing they’ve ever done. If it was harder than football was for me, I cannot fathom it at this point in my life,” Strahan added.

Robert Iwrin Is the Only Celebrity Confirmed for DWTS Season 34

Fans will have to wait a bit longer for the full “Dancing With the Stars” cast list. The cast is usually revealed in late August or early September ahead of the new season.

In April 2025, People magazine confirmed that Robert Irwin will be joining DWTS Season 34.

The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and zookeeper is the younger brother of DWTS Season  21 champion Bindi Irwin.

“I cannot tell you what a privilege, what an honor it is to be joining this season,” Irwin said when the announcement was made at Disney Entertainment Television’s Get Real Event. “I said, ‘One day, that’s gonna be me.’ And now, that dream is a reality and I am over the moon. Let’s do this!” he told the crowd.
