“I Thought They’d Always Be There”: Shep Rose Breaks Down Over Unexpected Family Shift, Calls the Moment ‘Surreal’ and Says It Changed His

Shep Rose is a true family man! The Southern Charm cast member just proved he's an amazing uncle as he celebrates a big milestone for one of his family members. On Aug. 3, the South Carolina native posted a photo carousel honoring his niece Rosie's huge accomplishment: she's driving! The post included a video of Shep in the car as Rosie, who just turned 16, drove him and her sisters around.

"Okay, Rosie is driving!" the proud uncle exclaimed in the video. "This is surreal. Is the seat moved up, is everything okay?" He then revealed his precious dog, Lil Craig, was sitting on one of his niece's laps in the passenger seat. "Craig, do you feel safe?" he joked. "Yeah, he's actually enthusiastic about her driving."

At the end of the video, he turned the camera on himself and reflected on Rosie's huge milestone. "Wow, things have really come full circle here," he remarked.  

Shep showered Rosie with praise in the caption. "Good times with family. Can’t believe my oldest niece [Rosie] is driving. Guess time marches on or something to that effect," he wrote.

"Soon after the video, [Lil Craig] was crawling around and put the car in neutral at a stop light," he added in the caption. "[It] was a minor incident handled beautifully."

Shep Rose opens up about his relationship with his family

Shep is no stranger to hyping up his family. Previously, when speaking with The Daily Dish, Shep gushed about his dad and mom, William and Frances, as well as his two siblings: older sister, Katie, and younger brother, Whitaker. "I'm lucky, that's all I can say. I'm super lucky," he said when asked about his family dynamic.

In another interview with The Daily Dish, he noted that his family members all have amazing careers. "They're all very accomplished. And then there's me," he joked.

According to Instagram, Shep spends a lot of quality time with his family, especially during the holidays. On Thanksgiving 2024, Shep took to Instagram and posted an adorable photo carousel documenting his family's holiday celebration.

"Lovely to be with Mom and Dad for Thanksgiving here in Hilton Head Island," Shep wrote in the caption. "Feeling very gracious and thankful. Counting our blessings and eating all the things."

Given that he's such a fantastic uncle, it's only fair to assume that Shep would make a great dad — he just needs to find the right match to start a family with. In fact, he even discussed the idea of having kids with his now ex-girlfriend, Sienna Evans, during Season 10, Episode 11 of Southern Charm. Even though Shep is now single, he hasn't given up on love, even if dating might be more challenging than he thought.

Shep shed light on his dating life in an interview with People magazine. “It’s fun, and it’s also exhausting,” he told the outlet, “because most of them aren’t all that great, but you’re looking for that diamond in the rough.”
