Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are taking their relationship slow.
The former Golden Bachelorette and her fiancé appeared on Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour for its July 9 episode, and opened up about where their relationship stands. Vassos and Chapple, who got engaged at the end of The Golden Bachelorette's first season during the summer of 2024, aren't in any rush to tie the knot, they said.
Vassos shared she and Chapple are already very busy — Chapple with his business, Vassos with her son's wedding, coming up this summer — and wouldn't have the time or energy to plan an meaningful wedding for themselves.
Furthermore, there are other important relationship milestones for them to experience before getting married, Vassos said. For example, she and Chapple are "not ready" to live together just yet, she said, which seemed like a logical part of marriage to them.
"We are in a good place," Vassos said. "We don't need to have a wedding certificate to say that we are in a good place."
Host Kathy Swarts poked fun at Vassos, suggesting the real reason she doesn't have time to plan a wedding is because she's too busy trying out new recipes and sharing them on Instagram and TikTok.
When the time comes for a wedding, Vassos said, she wants a small wedding — maybe even an elopement, she said. She's done a big wedding, for herself and for her children, and in the future, she wants something simpler for her and Chapple.
Vassos opened up about deferring a wedding in June 2025, also on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. She noted the "weird, backwards way" people get together on The Bachelor, and for that reason, she and Chapple are still getting to know each other in "those everyday mundane ways" they didn't discover on the show.
“You've done the big stuff. You haven't done the little stuff. So we're kinda doing that,” she shared.
