The reality TV star said it was due to their "unaligned" social views, which Devin asked not to be recorded on camera. But Virginia also discussed Devin's red flags, including an undisclosed monetary wedding gift intended for them.
Before the reunion, Virginia's friend spilled that she was paying for all the meals when she was living with Devin on Love Is Blind. Here's what really happened behind the scenes of Virginia and Devin's relationship, as well as after the show.
After the final episode of LIB Season 8 aired, Virginia shared an Instagram Story posted by her friend (screenshots above) criticizing Devin: "Me ugly crying because I thought my girl was gonna say yes to a dusty Trumper that had her pay for every single meal the entire time."
The friend also tagged Devin in a second Story, calling him out for his emotional reaction at the wedding. "Them fake tears at the alter [sic] really pissed me off," she wrote. "I had to rewind 10 times and still didn't find a single drop. ... You tried the wrong one @devbuck3."
LIB hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey previously admitted that the Season 8 Minnesotan couples had a "harder time relating to issues" in the pods.
Virginia didn't talk about Devin's beliefs, but she expressed her support for the LGBTQ+ community, a woman's right to abortion, and different religions. Their dynamic is reminiscent of Season 7's Ramses Prashad being vague about his job status and the more accomplished Marissa George initiating tough conversations about their beliefs.
During the reunion, Virginia didn't bring up anything about paying for "every single meal" when living with Devin (reposting her friend's story says a lot, though). Instead, she talked about Devin not telling her about a $1,000 check his mom's boss gave the couple as a wedding present.
Virginia claimed that it was Devin's mom who'd told her about the check. She claimed that he'd never informed her about the money; not even during the reunion. Devin said he was just holding onto it until they got married. But Virginia and her fans aren't convinced due to Devin's shoe collection habit amid unpaid medical bills.
Had they gotten married, Virginia would have been willing to help with Devin's debt. So it must have raised red flags for Virginia when Devin and his family reacted negatively to her bringing up a prenup. This isn't the first time debts were discussed on the show. Season 1's Amber Pike also had debts before marrying Matt Barnett, and they're still married...
During the reunion, Virginia (in her "big girl voice") also called out Devin for ghosting her and telling his friends that she had ghosted him. "Devin never reached out after filming," she later told E! News. "I reached out to him for about a week, and then he stopped answering my phone calls. So, that's been hard to deal with."
Virginia also dispelled speculations about her not being all in on the relationship. "I think I'm naturally a person that has my guard up a lot, so to be engaged to somebody and then they ghost me like that...," she explained.
"To be so far and deep into the process and introduce him to all my family members and my friends—it was a little, I don't want to say traumatic, but it was something that I've had to deal with over the last year of learning to trust people again," she continued.
These days, Virginia is "open to dating" but is "still processing everything that happened." She wants "to look inward and get to know myself better and get to love myself better."
She's also "interested" in freezing her eggs, as Zaina Sesay did as part of her self-love/post-breakup era after enduring so much drama on Season 3 of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.
