The merry-go-round continues for the Minnesota Wild this season. While they’ve done well to continue winning, they have also lost players at a breakneck pace. Ryan Hartman is now on the shelf with a suspension , and Kirill Kaprizov underwent surgery.
At least John Hynes will have a couple of top reinforcements back in the lineup as the Minnesota Wild drop the puck in Boston.
MN Wild get a lineup boost against Boston
Both defenseman Jonas Brodin and forward Marcus Johansson have been on the shelf for the Minnesota Wild. Prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Boston Bruins, both players have been activated from long-term injured reserve.
Brodin returns just under a month from the last time we saw him on the ice. Out since January 7, the Wild defenseman has played in 31 games this season. He has four goals to go along with his 12 assists. Brodin has also blocked 67 shots while doling out 17 hits this year.
Similar to Brodin, Johansson returns just shy of a month later. His last time on the ice was January 15. Johansson has played in 44 games this season for Minnesota. He’s logged five goals with 11 assists. He has seen a significant drop in faceoff time as he has been involved in the puck drop just 10 times, winning three of them.
Hynes currently has his team sitting at 31-18-4. With 66 points, the Wild are third in the NHL Central Division. They are coming off an ugly, 6-0 loss to Ottawa and face a Boston team that is simply hovering around .500.
It’s a good time for the Wild to get healthy. They have just three more games before the NHL takes a break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. That time can be used so players can recover and ready themselves for the stretch run. The next big return for Minnesota will be that of Kaprizov, who’s expected back a week before the NHL trade deadline on March 7.
