TEEN Mom star Amber Portwood has reportedly shut down any topic of conversation involving the possible adoption of her teenage daughter.
Amber, 34, shares her 15-year-old daughter Leah with her ex Gary Shirley, who has been married to Kristina Shirley since 2015.
The MTV star's relationship with her teenage daughter has been discussed in the current season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.
With Gary and Shirley noting how Amber has been missing from her daughter's life, the topic of adoption surfaced on a recent episode.
Gary, 37, claimed Leah wanted to be adopted by her stepmom, adding that Kristina would do so in a "heartbeat."
Now, a source has exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Amber would not allow Kristina to do so.
"It's obviously extremely difficult for Amber to see the adoption conversation being used as a plotline on the show," the insider said.
"Amber will not allow anyone to adopt her daughter on her watch."
DISCUSSING ADOPTION
During the mid-July episode, Gary said he messaged Amber to get her to reconnect with their daughter.
He read the message he received back from Amber, which said, "I’ve texted and called Leah a million times! No answer, nothing ever back.
"I’ve done everything to be in her life, I’ve gotten crapped on. I never get to spend time with her," it continued.
Teen Mom Amber Portwood says she saw ex-fiance Gary Wayt's 'first manic episode' in cryptic scene before he went missing
"I’m tired of being unhappy and fighting for attention from everyone. I’m not a horrible person, I’m a loving mother."
Kristina chimed in, telling Gary, "That’s her giving confirmation that her mom’s just not wanting to be there."
“She’s already at that point and I know what Leah needs. She needs her mom," Kristina added.
"She wants to have a mom that’s there that you can depend on. Somebody that doesn’t always make it about herself."
Kristina continued to note all the motherly acts she does for Leah.
After telling his friends later in the episode that Kristina would adopt his and Amber's daughter, he said Amber was unaware of any plans surrounding the idea.
Gary then noted that he wanted to let Leah decide what she would like to do regarding adoption.
During an episode just weeks before, fans saw Amber fight with Gary at their daughter's 15th birthday dinner.
The tiff started when Amber was late for the celebration and ended with Leah begging her parents to "stop" and crying in the bathroom.
CALLING IT OFF
Along with the discussion over adoption, Amber has also been dealing with other situations in her personal life recently.
She ended her engagement to Gary Wayt, 39, after he went missing in June.
Last month, a source close to Amber revealed to The U.S. Sun that she "still hadn't spoken to" her ex since he was found.
Gary became a missing person when he bolted from their rental cabin in Indiana after he and Amber got into an argument.
He turned up unharmed several days later, and the source noted that Amber wasn't going to contact him.
"She hasn't really reached out to anyone since he was found. She is pretty hurt by the whole situation and still in disbelief," they added.
Since calling it off with her ex-fiance, Amber has been flaunting her weight loss on social media.
She even revealed she had lost 26 pounds in late July.
