‘On the board’… Nick Sirianni job with Philadelphia Eagles is not safe, says ESPN expert

None of them are from the NFC, but the Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) could clinch a spot into the playoffs under the right circumstances.

The Eagles possess one of the most talented rosters in the league on different sides of the ball. Fans believe this is the Eagles’ best chance for a Super Bowl since last year’s 10-1 start before their huge drop of production leading up to the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

‘On the board’… Nick Sirianni job with Philadelphia Eagles is not safe, says ESPN expert

That isn’t the most recent situation where head coach Nick Sirianni has led the Eagles to disappointing losses. This season, Sirianni made questionable calls that led to Philadelphia losing to the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay earlier in the season.

Nick Sirianni hot seat still warm

Many fans and NFL analysts aren’t trusting head coach Nick Sirianni to be the reason why the Eagles will be the reason why they win. Some people like ESPN NFL analyst Chris Canty believe the Eagles might look at Sirianni as a weakness that might have to get flushed out for the Eagles to reach their full potential.

On Thursday morning on ESPN’s First Take, Canty had a lot to say about what the Eagles could do with their head coach if the team experience a disappointing postseason once again:

“If they’re one and done in the postseason and the reason why they lose is a coaching gap by Nick Sirianni, his job security is going to be called into question.

“Even with the one seed, to me that puts more pressure on Sirianni because it shows you he has a supremely talented team.

“Howie Roseman has gifted him a roster that should make a deep playoff run. A roster that’s capable of getting back to the Super Bowl.

“If they fall short and they underwhelm in the postseason like they did last year, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then I think it’s on the board that Nick Sirianni could lose his job, especially considering what’s going to be available in the coaching pool this hiring cycle.”

Options for the Eagles if Nick Sirianni is fired

There have many people calling for Sirianni’s job after last year’s late-season collapse and losing to the Buccaneers in the wild card.

The noise got worse for Sirianni as even players in his locker room called him out as leader. Those cries lowered to a low whisper as the Eagles are on their eight-winning steak, but many are waiting for what can go wrong between now and the playoffs.

There is serious pressure for the Eagles to make the change at head coach due to the current coaches available. Two of the hottest coaches for teams to consider is six-time Super Bowl champion and former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

Belichick has an overall record of 266-121 in his 24 years as head coach of the Patriots, but 29-38 in his last four seasons without Tom Brady.

Vrabel had four stellar seasons with the Titans at 41-24 overall before the front decided to ruin any playoff hopes by making bad team moves like trading away wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Eagles. Having Brown reunite with Vrabel would make him even more dangerous.

These are scenarios that Eagles fans constantly think about even with Sirianni as head coach. He needs to change his perspective by exceeding their low expectations of him.
