Paige DeSorbo Makes a Major Move Towards Motherhood After Craig Conover Split

Bravo's Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover broke up. Now therapists are hearing about it in client sessions.

“Summer House” star Paige DeSorbo wants to be a mom — but not right now. After her split from “Southern Charm” star Craig Conover, DeSorbo is moving toward motherhood to make it happen when the time is right.

‘Summer House’ Star Paige DeSorbo Announced Her Plans for ‘Security’

During a January episode of her “Giggly Squad” podcast with her co-host and best friend Hannah Berner, the 33-year-old DeSorbo revealed that she had decided to freeze her eggs. After her three-year relationship with Conover came to an unexpected end, DeSorbo (who has polycystic ovary syndrome) explained she had made the decision to freeze her eggs for “security.”

“It is like making me relax a little bit though, knowing that I’m doing it,” DeSorbo said.

During their relationship, DeSorbo and Conover, 35, were planning to wait three to four years to have kids. He told Austen Kroll and Shep Rose during an episode of “Southern Charm” that he froze his sperm because becoming a dad was an important part of his future.

The couple never publicly shared the reasons for their split, but some speculate it was because DeSorbo was hesitant about settling down with Conover in South Carolina and taking on a traditional wife and mother role.

Paige DeSorbo Makes a Big Move Toward Becoming a Mom

Throughout her time on reality TV, DeSorbo has found growing professional success. Instead of settling down and becoming a mom in her 20s or 30s, DeSorbo isn’t in a rush to start a family. Over Mother’s Day weekend, DeSorbo went through the process of egg retrieval. She shared on her podcast that the doctor was able to retrieve 28 eggs. However, only 13 were considered mature and able to make an embryo.

“That’s a really good amount of eggs,” DeSorbo said.

The expectation is that around 50 percent of mature eggs will turn into embryos once they are fertilized. After they are tested for genetic abnormalities, the number could be reduced before a healthy transfer.

DeSorbo explained that a second egg retrieval would be an option if she wants to increase her chances of becoming a mom in the future.

The ‘Summer House’ Star Detailed the Process and Side Effects

Before the egg retrieval, DeSorbo said that she had to give herself multiple shots every day. She admitted that she was nervous at first about injecting herself, but then ended up being really good at it. She also confessed that she underestimated the recovery process after the retrieval.

The “Summer House” star explained that a common side effect is feeling very bloated. She constantly has to remind herself that her body went through a “trauma experience.”

“I don’t know how the female body does it. Everything you feel is just so tender,” DeSorbo said. “The fact that women aren’t seen as these goddesses in society, I don’t understand it.”

New episodes of “Summer House” air Wednesdays on Bravo.
