Having spent over a decade on the court alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson have also become synonyms with the Warriors' dynasty. Not only have the trio won four championships together, but more notably, they were part of Golden State's incredible comeback in 2022 as well.
Naturally, the latter two have shared great memories with the two-time MVP, forming a solid brotherhood even off the court. Consequently, they would expect to be named his favorite teammate. However, when choosing his GOAT teammate, Steph leaned in favor of his 'Splash Brother.'
Stephen Curry picks Klay over Draymond as his GOAT teammate
It's widely acknowledged that the offensive pairing of Steph and Klay, particularly their prowess from beyond the arc, has redefined modern-day basketball. Moreover, their chemistry might have even made the most lethal scoring duo in the league's history. But there's no denying that Draymond Green will always remain the player who has single-handedly transformed Steph into the 3-Point King. His defense, ability to keep Curry away from all antics, and, most importantly, his assists (having assisted Steph the most) were vital to unlocking Curry's full potential.
As brilliant as Klay was on the offensive end, without the four-time All-Star, it's hard to imagine the Baby-Faced Assassin and the Warriors winning as many titles as they did.
Yet, during a Q&A session on Complex's GOAT Talk show, when the 2022 Finals MVP was asked to pick his GOAT teammate, he hesitantly picked Klay over Draymond.
"That's a dirty question," Curry said. "Well I guess, I'll pick Klay Thompson, that's my Splash Brother. A lot of great teammates to pick from, I didn't like that question."
Maybe it's the years of splashing threes together or that deep connection they share on and off the court. Either way, it's clear Curry sees his bond with his 'Splash Brother' more impactful - even if Dray has been right there in the trenches with them the whole time.
