Guy Gansert might not have received the final rose on The Golden Bachelorette, but he just revealed if he had planned to propose to Joan Vassos if the finale tilted in his favor. Before The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Joan had said she didn't need to get engaged to consider this journey a success. After The Golden Bachelor's Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist got divorced after only three months as a married couple, all eyes were on Joan to see if she would follow the same path or forge a new way forward to ensure a better outcome.
Guy Gansert revealed whether he would've proposed to Joan Vassos if he had been the winner of The Golden Bachelorette .
Guy recently appeared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast and revealed whether he would've proposed to Joan if he ended up as the winner of The Golden Bachelorette. The runner-up admitted that the Fantasy Suite night made him determined to be with Joan at the very end. "We've covered all the important variables that you need to talk about, really, as an adult," he said. Then he ended up journaling afterward and thought, "You know what? I feel great. I am ready to do this. I am ready to get down on a knee."
The all-important hometowns continued to solidify Guy's bond with Joan. He was "so excited" to meet her kids "because I thought they'd love me." Going into it, he planned to ask them for their blessing for an eventual proposal. "Unfortunately, I never had that opportunity," he somberly stated.
The Bora Bora trip was the tipping point that made Guy realize Joan would choose Chock Chapple instead. When he got that knock on the door, he was hoping for the best, but he could tell by the look on Joan's face that good news was not on the horizon. He began that day thinking, "I'm going to ask for her hand in marriage." However, the "balloon burst" quickly and he was rejected in favor of Chock.
In his Bachelor Happy Hour podcast interview, Guy said more than once that he was prepared to get down on one knee and propose to Joan. He built up a high level of confidence that vanished in an instant. Since he was absolutely convinced that Joan was going to choose him, he found himself getting really emotional after she rejected him.
After taking a short break from social media after The Golden Bachelorette ended, Guy returned to Instagram to reflect on the finale, admitting it was heartbreaking to watch. Despite having to witness that tragic day all over again, this time on TV instead of in person, he knew he would be just fine, even if it took a while to process. Guy fell in love on The Golden Bachelorette, and he hasn't been afraid to let that vulnerable side shine through as he deals with the aftermath of the finale.
Various Golden Bachelorette men displayed red flags both during and after the season aired. Guy had to face the news about his restraining order becoming public knowledge and being scrutinized on social media. This comes amid speculation about whether Guy or someone else from the show will be cast as The Golden Bachelor season 2 lead. His red flags and past scandals could doom his chances, but if ABC does choose him, he'll get another opportunity to fall in love on TV after facing Joan's rejection on The Golden Bachelorette.
