Vikings players heard about the team's latest big move in one of the most hilarious ways possible

For a minute, it looked the starting left guard job was Blake Brandel's to lose, but then the Minnesota Vikings went out and re-signed Dalton Risner on Wednesday, which threw things for a bit of a loop.

Risner was an in-season addition for the Vikings, last year, and wound up starting the final 11 games. He was an effective starter, overall, especially in pass protection, where he gave up zero sacks over the course of 485 pass blocking snaps, per Pro Football Focus.

It's hard to imagine Risner coming in under the impression that job is Brandel's to lose. Cohesiveness is so important along the offensive line: Why wouldn't the Vikings want as close to the same group of 5 on the field, this year, that they had, last year?

"I was hoping it would happen," star left tackle Christian Darrisaw told reporters earlier in the week. "... Him coming in, midway through the season, and us having that chemistry, already. I love playing next to him and we'll see what happens."

Darrisaw isn't the only Viking excited to have Risner back in the fold. News traveled fast and plenty of teammates found out about the transaction in one of the funniest ways possible.

"We saw the news mid-bathroom break, during the meeting today. [I'm] super excited. I mean anytime can add good players to your team - that's a plus," safety Josh Metellus told reporters. "... Yeah, my bathroom break. I mean... we see on Twitter, you know, we are at work, and we check the phone real quick [and see] Adam Schefter tweeted 'Dalton Risner signed with the Vikings' and reach over, tell Cam [Bynum] and tell Harry [Harrison Smith] and then let it go like that. And by the time meeting ends, we all know."

Well, that's one way to find out.

But in all seriousness, the Vikings' left guard battle just got very, very interesting. It's especially unique considering Brandel is better at run blocking and Risner, as mentioned above, is better at pass protection. Neither player is making crazy enough money to where it automatically warrants an advantage, either.
