Why Did Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley Break Up? "Not a Mistake

The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Season 16 premiere was a doozy when it came to rumors swirling around Drew Sidora and the father of Porsha Williams’ daughter.

Dennis McKinley finds himself at the center of major drama as Drew’s newest music producer and Porsha’s ex-fiancé. Viewers will have to wait and see how things turn out between Drew and Porsha, but we know when it comes to Porsha and Dennis, the two are now happily coparenting.

But although Porsha — who is currently embroiled in a contentious divorce from Simon Guobadia — might still be on good terms with Dennis for the sake of their 5-year-old daughter, it doesn't mean that their two-year relationship didn’t have its bumps, as featured in one of their therapy sessions from Season 12, Episode 7, which you can watch, above.

At the heart of the three-person discussion was Dennis’s infidelity, which caused the new parents to break up before giving the relationship another try.

Therapist: We were just talking about, you know, what is it going to take to get beyond where you are? Because, I remember, at one point, you said you were done done. And Dennis, I’m going to start with you. Why do you think you came today? And help me understand where you are.

Dennis: I think we’ve been through a lot these last few months, you know, and everything was good. But, you know, I made a mistake. I cheated, and –

Porsha: It’s not a mistake. ‘I made a mistake,’ to me, is like take the wrong exit. You don’t make a mistake and set up with someone and cheat. That’s not where he needs to be in order for me to heal, and in order for me to move forward.

Therapist: O.K.

Porsha: He has to be in a place, in my eyes, taking full accountability for his actions, period. No matter how it looks and it feels … It insults me when he says ‘mistake.’

What is happening now with Porsha and Dennis?

Things between Porsha and her ex will continue on RHOA Season 16, as seen in a teaser for Season 16, Episode 2, when Porsha confronts Dennis about his relationship with Drew. Could it be that Drew is misrepresenting her relationship with Dennis after calling him her “angel on Earth”? Or is their relationship strictly business?

No matter what, Porsha and Dennis continue to put their daughter, Pilar Jhena “PJ” McKinley, first. But if the recent clip is any indication, it looks like there may be a few more bumps in store.
